VIGIL
Pretty good crowd in downtown San Mateo tonight for its edition of MoveOn's national series of vigils for Cindy Sheehan. A bit over two hundred people pre-registered for the event, and that's about how many people showed up.
Over an hour from 730 to 830, around one half of the passing cars on El Camino Real (San Mateo's busiest street) honked their horns in solidarity with the vigil. While San Mateo County is one of the more liberal counties in the state, the city of San Mateo itself is very much a socio-economic and cultural cross-section of American suburbia. Thus, I would shy away from passing such things off as Left Coast Librulism.
I'll have more to say tomorrow, as I'll be kicking the blog back into gear.
